Pay attention to early morning and evening. These can be the most difficult times of the day. Why? When you are tired you fall into a dreamy state. This is when the mind wants to take you to sleep.
These times are ideal for practicing awareness. Direct your attention to the myriad of thoughts swirling around. Recognize, they are all relating to the past or the future.
The past is over and done. This script about the past is not totally accurate. These stories often wander into “woulda, shoulda, coulda” territory. This fires up unwanted emotions, like guilt or anger.
Or your mind might fire up a story about the future. Of course, it hasn’t happened yet, so this story is fictional too! Most likely this story will take you to the extremes, with bizarre outcomes. The longer you listen to it, the more you’ll suffer with stress and anxiety.
Pay attention to these sleepy times, morning or night, and take advantage of these opportunities to practice awareness! This is the easiest and fastest way to change your life and move from despair to hope and joy! If you can look at the mind one time and stop its nonsense, you have proven, you are in charge!
