The Future
The future is not real. It only exists in the mind.
We are always in present time.
The future seems real because we fail to recognize the minds’ chatter for what it really is… a whole lot of predictions with worse odds than a casino.
Some of the minds’ scenarios about the future can be quite scary. This is the cause of anxiety, fear and stress.
Once we see this clearly, we can create awareness and free ourselves of the dreaded stranglehold of the mind.
When you notice your mind wandering off into the future here’s what you can do, all on your own.
- Touch something near you. Just for a few seconds. Realize you are in present time where reality exists. Whatever the minds’ chatter is that is going on about the future is not valid.
- Close your eyes for a few seconds and notice your belly while you’re breathing. Center yourself with real time.
- Look at yourself in a mirror and lift your chin up until your eyes appear above the top of your ears. Come on… try it! This might even cause you to smile!
- Save this document. Tuck it in your purse, billfold, or somewhere handy so you can read it over and over. These are simple ways to create awareness of reality when the mind begins to rant.
