What’s bugging you? (WBY)
Here is a form of journaling I use, quite often in the morning, to get my mind cleared out.
I use a legal pad and open up a new page and write at the top “WBY” for What’s Bugging You?
First, I ask myself, “What’s bugging you?” Then I quickly scribble a one-sentence answer. Then I follow up with “Why?” and I write another one-sentence answer. I keep doing this until I find relief.
It’s very important to respond very quickly each time you ask “Why?” without any concern for the correctness of punctuation, grammar, or spelling. Don’t give thought to what you are going to write down. Just scribble it out as fast as you can!
My illustration below demonstrates that I started out feeling emotional, but I didn’t know why until I unraveled it. Then a rational response finally surfaced and I found relief!

WBY?
I just can’t get going this morning. Why? I am just all clogged up. Why? I just feel like I can’t get any worse. Why? Because I am just spinning in circles. I feel like I can’t get any energy. Why? Because I feel sluggish. Why? Probably because I didn’t get enough sleep. Why? Maybe I went to bed too late. Why? I don’t know why — I haven’t figured it out. Why? This is an extra hard morning. Why? Because I’ve been listening to my mind. Why? Because I am not conscious of what I’m doing. Why? Because I have gone down the funnel. Why? I just haven’t been on top of my game. Why? I am worried about too many things. Why? I’m listening to the stupid-ass mind. Why? It’s got me hooked in. Why? I have failed to remember that it’s all fiction and all BS. I was not in the perspective where I could see it like it really is. Why? I was IN my mind rather than WATCHING my mind! Why? I just fell into an old habit. Why? I am human!!!
Bingo! I am free!
